You have seen the Tuxedos being worn by many including your favorite movie stars like Jackie Chan as he acted in The Tuxedo, Fred Aster in the early films or in other fictitious movie characters like James Bond.
You may have even worn one before, during, your prom event or as a groomsman or had even worn during your own wedding day.
But have we really know where this very American formal wear origin?
Or why it is called the Tuxedo?
Let me travel with you on my journey to find out and why I too find the tuxedo such an interesting attire to me. I have been with the tuxedo business for over twenty years.
Let me share with you also my experience in my managing and eventually my operating of a tuxedo store.
Personally, I have traveled around the Far East from the Island of Borneo in Sarawak & Brunei, to Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan & South Korea. In the United States of America, I have traveled from the West coast from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle to the mid west in Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul and south to Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. In the eastern US, I have traveled to New Orleans, Birmingham, Miami, Sarasota, Jacksonville, Savannah, Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, Richmond, Washington DC, Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, Albany, Boston & Portland.
I have studied, volunteered or worked as independent door-to-door sales, in restaurants, real estate, legislative research, political fund raising, election campaigns, oil drilling ventures, fish farm, ginseng farm, formal wear retail, business brokerage, marketing research, writing and counting.
I enjoy hiking, marathon running, swimming and just visiting several ski resorts to watch others ski. My favorite TV sports is American football.
I have studied at O.L.L. University, University of Texas, Harvard University, Indiana University. I still feel that I am a student at heart and my education is an on-going journey.

My first formal occasion is coming up and I am in need of a tuxedo. I came across this book about tuxedo and how to select the style to be appropriate for the occasion. I am surprised that a Black-Tie event does not mean that I have to wear a black bow tie. From this book it informs me that a black-tie event means to wear a tuxedo but at the same time it also means that I could wear any other color bow ties with color vests or cummerbunds.I find this short book informative and the author also gave an added anecdotes from his experience in the business that makes this book a very interesting read.
I will be keep this book as a guide for my wedding that I could use for myself and to also share with my groomsmen one day.
